Ask All the Questions

As of today, I’m 7 months pregnant, and what an experience it has been. Not all bad, but not perfect either. While embracing my last #pregnancy, there are still so many precautionary measures I have to consider.

As you all know, it was a journey getting our son here, and in that journey, I have learned to ask all the questions. I’ve worked on the Operational/Administration side of healthcare for over ten years, and you pick up on different questions to ask and how to ask those questions. It also helps if you have a great doctor!

While pregnant in 2019, my GYN was on the lookout (constantly) for #fibroid growth, as I recently had them removed in 2019. Thankfully, nothing ever came! Now that we’re in 2023, not only am I a little older, my body is prone to growing cysts, and obviously fibroids.

Recently, I learned that I have a #cyst on my right ovary. I also learned more about the age factor of pregnancy in #Blackwomen, weight chart for unborn babies, and more. I’ve always heard that every pregnancy is different, and this is one of the few times I will agree with the world. When things are in question about your body, YOU ask all the questions. It’s imperative to understand that yes, pregnancy can bring different hormonal changes, body changes, and more, but don’t be afraid to ask “why.” If you have a doctor who gives you generic answers, or answers that are difficult to understand, request a breakdown.

Granted, I’ve been in healthcare a long time, and in my mind, I’m an NRN (non-registered nurse) however, there are still so many things I don’t know. When told in the very beginning that I will be #highrisk, I asked what that meant for me, my #body, my #mental.

This is how great my GYN is. As soon as she walks in, she asks, “how are you…no really how are you?” She will ask about my support system. She will ask about how I’m feeling physically. After the “How is Brittany” conversation, we will then discuss baby and Brittany. This means so much to have a caring physician.

Even if you’re not expecting, or trying for a baby; I encourage you to ask every question at your well visit, your eye doctor appointments, your dentist appointments. Everything affects something different in the body. It’s your body, and you have to live in it! Learn it, ask about it, get personal with it! Don’t be afraid to ask any and all questions!

Sprinkled with Love,
