I Wrote a Book!!!

ree

I wrote a book. Let me write that again. I wrote a whole book (inserts all excited emojis). In the words of one of my favorite podcasts, “Here’s the Thing.” I had zero intention on my book taking off the way it has. Honestly, I’ve had different ideas about being a Mommy blogger but always feared no one would read it. There are so many bloggers and authors out there, and feared I wouldn’t stand out. In the same breath, I’m also thinking, “I had a baby during the beginning of the pandemic!!” Don’t worry, that blog is coming out soon because, your girl and her family made it through an entire pandemic with a newborn! In the words of Auntie Tab, “stay focused.”

So, The Toddler Life. The goal of the book is to provide gentle reminders to parents as they read to their child(ren) that toddlers are little humans. As they navigate in this big world, they have big feelings they need to communicate but just don’t know how.

The idea is to give parents a perspective of how boundaries still need to be set, yet still provide a unique approach. One of my favorite parts of the book is towards the end where it provides a breathing exercise for both parent and child. Honestly, I’ve been doing deep breathing for quite sometime as I have dealt with anxiety and depression in the past. I have also learned how deep breathing can assist with moods and feelings. One day when my son was 1 years old, I showed him how Mommy does a deep breathing to get me through a moment. Of course he was unaware of what that moment was for me, but I needed to breathe through it. Now that he’s 3 years old, we have incorporated a calm and peaceful mind and body to get us through those big feelings.

Toddlers can be A LOT!!! They are busy, they are needy, they are opinionated (like how), and their emotions go from 0 to 100 real quick. Toddlers are also small humans who have needs, desires, wants, and feelings. Toddlers need love, compassion, teaching, and understanding.

The goal of my book is honestly to have at least one person say, “Wow. I never thought of it that way. I never considered deep breathing with my kid.” As parents read to their child(ren), I hope it gives them inspiration as the words come out.

Thank you all in advance for supporting me!! Ever since I posted my book on Facebook, I’ve been in (happy) tears ever since. The outpouring of love and support from literally everyone has been incredible and overwhelming (inserts crying emojis). Who knew some thoughts I jotted down at 2am would turn into this!

I have posted my link tree here for you to purchase.

Lastly, I’ve been asked several times to have a book signing. I’m still nervous if people will even like it. Stay tuned!
