‘Tis the Season…

It's that time of year again! You know, stressing about gifts for family and friends, holiday parties, family pictures, Christmas cards, etc. If you're like me, every year, you tell yourself, "I'm going to start early next year!" Well, when the next year comes, guess what, life happens right? What if you're like dozens of people who got laid off right before the holidays? What if you lost a loved one? What if the dynamic of relationships have changed? What if there were other financial emergencies that occurred that may have stopped you from completing a specific goal? All of these reasons (including some I haven't named), are reasons to feel so uncoordinated this time of year. Guess what, it's okay.

One thing I've learned this year, is life truly can throw curveballs. I mean one day, life is sweet; next thing you know, you're making lemonade out of the lemons in your life. When you have a family, there are so many expectations; especially this time of year. I'm here to encourage you to do what's best for you and your family! If you're not able to take family pictures and send Christmas cards, that's okay. If you're only able to get a few gifts, that's okay. If you're trying to pull the Christmas spirit from deep within, that's also okay.

With Christmas being days away, and where I live, the cold weather is truly upon us, create memories as opposed to stress. Create a space where you, and everyone around finds laughter and joy. It can be a song on repeat (karaoke night), baking a ridiculous amount of cookies and making hot chocolate, playing games, and hey there's nothing wrong with movie night. I hope you find space to find your happy place. I hope your memories are endless.

Remember, it's okay!!! There are no rules to what we see on social media. Do what works for you!! I pray you are able to sprinkle light into the day, and/or someone sprinkles their light into yours.
